Andrew is currently an Artist in Residence of Scenic Design at Union College and he previously taught at Western Carolina University. Before starting his teaching career, he lived and worked in New York as a designer and assistant. There he assisted renowned Broadway scenic designer John Lee Beatty on eight productions at Encores! and various other Broadway and regional theatre productions including Oklahoma! at Chicago Lyric, The Guardsmen at the Kennedy Center, and the Tony Award winner for best scenic design of a play in 2013, The Nance. He also assisted designer David Zinn on Violet, Kung Fu, and The Last Ship. He has also designed at Playhouse on the Square, the 14th Street Y, Stella Adler School of Acting, NC Stage, Flat Rock Playhouse and Mount Baker Repertory Theatre. As a painter, he's worked at Santa Fe Opera, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Goodspeed Opera House, Juilliard School, The Union Square Theatre, and The Gala Hispanic Theatre in Washington DC.
